The International Aikido Federation (IAF) as a member of the GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations) and the AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport) participated at the SportAccord Convention 2019, which is held in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia from 5 to 10 of May.
The 17th edition of the World Sport & Business Summit takes place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and it’s the first time the event is held in Australia. IAF DC Chairman Mr. Kei Izawa Sensei and IAF DC General Secretary Mr. Wilko Vriesman sensei participate holding also important meetings.
SportAccord is a not-for-profit organisation which annually brings together representatives from more than 100 International Sports Federations affiliated with the following umbrella organisations that host their Annual General Assemblies at SportAccord.
- GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations),
- ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations),
- AIOWF (Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations),
- ARISF (Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations),
- AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport) and - Associate Members.
SportAccord receives the full support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

SportAccord and its 1600 delegates seeing what Australia has to offer. Exhibitors have come from far and wide to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Delegates at CityAccord had an insight into sport and entertainment business Nitro Circus whose action sports series is extremely popular.

The animals were among the stars of the show at the Opening Ceremony of SportAccord 2019. Hosted by Tourism and Events Queensland on behalf of the Queensland Government delegates had a complete Australian experience.
Looking at the future, in 2020 Sport Accord returns to the Chinese capital Beijing.
