On March 6th, 13 board members of Aikikai Foundation attended to the Conference for the Promotion of Budo, including Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba.
The Conference was moderated by the Executive Director and Secretary General of the Nippon Budokan Foundation, Mr. Yoshio Mifuji. The event started with the opening speech by the Director and Secretary General of the Parliamentary Association for Budo, Mr. Hideki Niwa, following with the greetings by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Association for Budo, Mr. Akinori Eto, and the Chairman of the Council for Japanese Budo and the Nippon Budokan Foundation, Mr. Masahiko Komura (representing the three groups organizing the Conference).
After this, the Vice-Chairperson and Board Chairperson of the Council for Japanese Budo, Ms. Eriko Yamatani presented the resolutions taken at the Conference by the Parliamentary Association for Budo, the Council for Japanese Budo and the Nippon Budokan Foundation. After a felicitation speech by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Mr. Masahiko Shibayama, representatives of each Budo, including Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba as Aikido representative, gave a greeting speech.
At the end, after a message in behalf of the Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Board Chairman of the Nippon Budokan Foundation, Mr. Hideo Usui made the toast starting a friendly gathering.
